The head of the FDFA, Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, will visit West and Central Africa from 3 to 5 November 2023. He will first visit Ghana and meet with the Ghanaian president, Mr Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

During his stopover in Accra, Mr Cassis will focus on bilateral relations, security, and stability in the Sahel and Gulf of Guinea regions, as well as cooperation within the framework of the UN, particularly within the Security Council.

In Yaoundé, Mr Cassis will highlight Switzerland's role in global digital governance, including its focus on digitalisation as part of its Foreign Policy Strategy 2020–23. He will also emphasize the importance of La Francophonie in implementing sustainable development objectives through the use of French as a common language.

Switzerland, as a member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, plays a significant role by supporting teacher training programs, youth education, digital governance, and activities promoting democracy and rights, including gender equality..
